Athena Music Foundation supports the next generation of talented young singers and instrumentalists by providing opportunities to work with exceptional teachers and coaches, and to perform in opera and concert productions alongside professional artists with orchestra. Athena Music Foundation supports each young performer as they build confidence and develop skills on their artistic journey.
PREMIERE OPERA VOCAL ARTS INSTITUTE
Athena Music Foundation is proud to be the principal sponsor of La bohème presented by Premiere Opera Vocal Arts Institute in Trani, Italy. Conducted by Michael Fennelly, the production would not have been possible without Athena's wonderful donors and artistic vision.
In addition to La bohème, Athena also sponsored the final opera gala concert featuring the talented young artists of POVAI with full orchestra conducted by Michael Fennelly at the Villa Comunale.
ROCKLAND YOUTH SYMPHONY
Athena is pleased to announce the founding of the Rockland Youth Symphony, with its opening season beginning October, 2023. Inspired by the brilliant musicianship of Dr. Michael Fennelly, the Rockland Youth Symphony brings dedicated young musicians together to play in a full symphony orchestra. Working together weekly, and with the partnership of Athena Music Foundation and the Rockland County Music Teachers Guild, we are thrilled to be a part of providing a showcase for the musical talents of young people through performances of timeless music.
Supporting the next generation with the athena prize
Athena Music Foundation supports the next generation of rising young opera singers by sponsoring top prizes in national and international opera competitions. Our recent sponsorships include The Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition and The Opera Index Competition. In recent years, Tenor Ben Reisinger (2024), Baritone Yeongtaek Yang (2023), and soprano Meigui Zhang (2022) have all won the Athena Prize.
